Mozilla’s Firefox Browser is Taking the World by Storm

Who would’ve thought Mozilla and their flagship browser Firefox could’ve done so well in a Microsoft dominated browser environment?  The up and coming browser has taken the world by storm over the last few years and now claims 17% of the global browser market share.  While 17 percent may not sound like much, it’s a historical browser landmark against Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) which single handedly grabbed the market from Netscape back in the 90’s by pre-installing IE on all Windows operating systems, and hasn’t faced any significant competition since.  However, Microsoft is now steering their IE vessel against the rushing current of Firefox’s powerful word of mouth campaigns.  Based on what I can see from the web analytics software I use, on my small network of sites (which mostly chalk up visitors from the United States) Firefox has somewhere between 20% and 30% of the of the United States browser market! Firefox now claims over half of a billion global downloads according to spreadfirefox.com which is Mozilla’s official community marketing website.
